Week 7b~ Database OpenOffice Base

Assignment 9~Student Management Database


Now!!! For the last task, assignment number 9!!! We have to plan, create and edit a simple database..well not so ‘simple’ actually.. for student management information using OpenOffice Base in a creative, innovative and ethical ways. To do so, you need to:
 Plan the data structure for Student management information for each table (only use student name in Student Table, but not others):
 Tables: Create table in Design view (4 separate tables
·         student table(use student ID as a Primary key)
·         parent table (use student ID as a Primary key)
·         curriculum table (use student ID as a Primary key)
·         co-curriculum table(use student ID as a Primary key)
 Tool->Relationship: Create relationships between tables by linking the student ID (That is why not to create student name for other tables except Student Table!)
 Use Wizard to Create Form:
·         Student Form
·         Parent Form
·         Curriculum Form
·         Co-curriculum Form
 Data entry using Form (Note: do not use table for data entry)
 Create several queries from the database
 Create reports based on the queries
Reflection:This is an individual task and it IS quite easy..if you understand the instruction carefully. Using the Open Office Base, it makes our information organized, neat and simple. But to do it still quite challenging. Also!!! It can be used when we be the ‘real’ teacher. When the times come, it will just a piece of nuts for us since we already learnt it. Overall this subject was fun, challenging  and tricky to do but we learnt from experiences guys! This subject really helps me a lot and as a teacher, of course, I need to learn more about it without waiting for the time to come for me. Because we don’t want to suffer on the last day right..Nice meeting you all..the Open Office and company!haha..and special 'Thank You' to our lecturer and coordinator..Mr. YM Tg. Norazlan & Dr. Siti Fatimah..lastly, happy holiday guys and Happy Eid to all muslim..=D

Week 7a~ Spreadsheet

Assignment 8b~ Excel


Based on assignment 8a, Week 7a, we have to do spreadsheet of financial management using Calc. Now, we going to use Excel to plan, create and edit a spreadsheet of students score and grade analysis , for this we need to use function in Excel to ‘define name’ for table of grade and score; VLOOKUP to refer to the grade of the score, STDEV and AVERAGE or the score; COUNTIF to calculate how many students for each grade; create suitable and meaningful graph Graph; sort to rank the highest to the lowest score for each subject; filter to select based on certain queries.
Means to say, you need to find and determine this:
  •         Define name
  •          Fill Series
  •          VLOOKUP
  •          STDEV
  •          AVERAGE
  •          COUNTIF
  •          Graph
  •          Sort
  •        Filter

As a teacher trainee who going to be teacher, knowing this was superb important for me. Because using this assignment, I can key in my future student’s mark and see their performance using the graph, also one of the function in Excel like this;

Week 7a~ Spreadsheet

Assignment 8a~ Spreadsheet. Calc


We done something different today..no more related to th previous task..we need to plan, create and edit a simple one year personal financial management (income and spending) spreadsheet using Calc .First, we need to name the sheet according to the month ; ie Aug11, Sept11 …. Jul12..so on..Then, create a formula to calculate a balance for each month (ie. balance of august – will be added to the balance of sept). Link the formula between the sheets. Lastly, upload the file to google docs (spreadsheet) and edit it if necessary since you need to do it individually. Share with your lecturers.
Doing this task like I’m doing MY personal financial management and it was fun! Now, I know how I can control my allowance with a tight budget so more..bla bla bla...It is really beneficial for me and my friends to know where our money flow..just like a water..and using Calc. was like using Excel but much more interesting. So guys, why don’t you try to discover it??? So, here was my spreadsheet of my salary..really wait for that moment!! So long!

For this week ,we have to create a presentation kit using Impress. But!!! Based on assignment 5 - mini research that we have done before..to create a good presentation using Impress, make sure you..

  • follow the guideline/rule for good presentation skills.
  • upload the presentation using Google doc and share it with your course mate. Edit the presentation if necessary.


Reflection
Impress??? Of course! I’m really impress with ‘ Impress’..it look just like like a twin to Microsoft Power Point. But actually, it was totally different the way to handle it. Quite challenging at first, but it was fun..anyway..we done it!!!

Week 5~ Bookfold

ASSIGNMENT 6B~ WORD PROFESSOR SOFTWARE

Now, this week, we got to plan, design and create a booklet using bookfold function in Word. The content must related the topic for assignment 1,4,5. We can use the report in journal article format added by inserting related graphic as the content of the booklet. We have to use the graphics/image created using any graphic editors like we do in the brochure, the previous task. We have to make a cover using of the booklet..means using 2 Column since it like a book that have two sides. After doing this assignment, it had given me a new experience. Even though, I used almost my homework or task given by the lecturer using Microsoft Word, I never realized that it had such function like bookfold. So, for today lesson, always alert and updated yourself.. If I’m being alert and curious, I sure will discover this function before. So long, my friends! Opps! Week 4~ Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)

OK guys! Straight to our main point..our task today was to record and analysis the data that we collected before (based on previous weeks) using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Thanks to our lecturer YM Tg. Azlan Tg. Sulaiman, who guide us along the way to use this SPSS thing. From SPSS, we can get the frequencies of the data to be the input of our report of journal that we made before. Actually, using SPSS really makes our task easier..we do not have to calculate all the data manually..just a simple click can produce the analysis..as an example:

Week 3b~Online Questionnaire

we just got a new task..it was a sequel of the assignment 1 and this time it is a little bit different, where it involves all our course mate..we need to do a survey! but...
before that we need to create a survey at surveymonkey.com as a pilot test..
need me to tell you how to do it? okay!

Easy right?! doing it was so easy..but..haha..got a lot of 'but' today..
to create the questions was a bit painful and heartbreaking..LOL!..since we need to refer the task to our lecturer, Mr YM Tg Azlan Tg Sulaiman, first and if get rejected..then we need to modify the question again..
since we need to fulfill the requirement for the question to show 'behavior' of the participants and also our objectives for the particular topic..

      Week 3a~Literature Review

      Salam and hello guys!
      Me and my partner, Nor Syuhada Che Muda, still doing the activities of THINK, PAIR, SHARE . For this task, we need to do a literature review, which the topic is related to our first assignment Original and Licensing Software .  We need to plan, search, evaluate and select information from two journal articles from UKM subscription research database, one article from google scholar and one more from book.google.com..below are our content of the literature review..


      THE PROBLEMS FACED IN USING ORIGINAL AND LICENSING SOFTWARE

      Software can be divided into three major types, which consists of original licensed software, open source software and pirated software.

      Original software is organized information in the form of operating systems, utilities, programs, and applications that enable computers to work. Without it, your computer will not perform any function. However, a lot of users prefer to use the piracy software since it is a lot cheaper and easier to install. In Malaysia only, the statistics of crime of software piracy rate was 59 per cent from 107 countries. (SOURCE: Fifth Annual BSA and IDC Global Software Piracy Study).

      License software is a legal device governing the usage or redistribution of software. Software licensing has been abide by a trust in which the user is assume to be honest and stay on by the agreement and terms applied. This license software always come together with the software product in order to explain the term of use to the end-users. The program codes might be to install and maybe use as a back up copy on the computer.

      The problem faced in licensing software is that the unscrupulous users will take advantages to make many copies of the software codes and install it into another computers. From here, we can see that the code of the license can just simply copied by the users. This is because there is the thought among the citizens that, it is fine to distribute the copies of the software . Besides, they don't even seem to realize that piracy is the worse thing to do in our country. The piracy here means, the participation in the unauthorized use or distribution in which you lend, give, copy or sell the software to anyone without owner's permission.

      In the other hand, the problem also occurs in original software when the pirated software can be only downloaded online for free. We might begin by examining the principle of fairness and justice. Is using software illegally something we would regard as fair if the roles were reversed and we were the company selling the software? Indirectly, it gives a headache and causing the hair on the software inventors turns to grey just because of the users, who abuse and make illegal copies of their work. Because of this issues, they also loss a billion US dollar. Such companies devote a large portion of their earnings to the creation of new software products.

      There are solutions for every problem. If we cannot defeat it, we still can protect it. That is what was suggested by experts to overcome this issue. To protect the original software from pirate software, there are three different levels of category. Firstly, the protection against a user, who duplicating a program for the use of a friend. To cope with it, the anti-piracy should increase the cost of copying equal with the cost of purchasing the program on the reliable market. Secondly, is the protection against copying for resale. In order to preclude it, the software ought to be cheaper. Then, the pirate one need to modify the program wholly than copying from the original one and if there is a risk for criminal records, still the cost is the same like the rewrite cost. Last but not least, the third one is about the protection of an algorithm that must be kept secret. It might be because of the program that use for the defence system of a nation.

      Another solutions that should be taken to reduce this problem from happen is that the awareness among the Malaysians should be enhanced as to make them realize the disadvantages of using pirate software in their life. We always listen to the campaign of against piracy in entertainment production, but how about piracy in software systems as we are revolved around the use of technology in this computer era? So this awareness must to be instilled in ourselves first.
      Here are the steps that should be taken in order to avoid illegal copying software among others:

      • First, get rid of any illegal software you might have inadvertently received. In this way you won't be viewed as a role model who says it is OK to use pirated software.
      • Find the resources to purchase those software packages you really need for work and for your personal use. With legal copies of software, you will get user support. Thus, it will help you to avoid potentially severe legal penalties; and, most of all, you will be acting ethically.
      • Next, when friends or colleagues ask for a copy of your software, invite them to sit at your computer and try yours.
      • offer to help them acquire a legal copy.
      In a nutshell, it is not wrong to purchase an original licensed software since it will peace your mind from any doubt about quality and concern about legal issues for the company, free from virus, free from faults like malware, spy ware and etc. You also can stay up-to-date to the software. However, the choice is yours.

      From this task, i gain many knowledge such as getting information from Google scholar and books. I do not know that we can get to read the books that was sold at the store without purchased it. Plus, my understanding about this topic, The Original and Licensing Software, also was improving and advancing. As a girl, we do not care about the computer, software stuff ..but because of this course, i feel fortunate for knowing about it now..that all from from this week.       What is C/LMS?

      C/LMS is a software where you can add, edit, manage your own online course, mostly for educational purpose. You do not need to know the HTML or other computer languages. Since it provides you with the sets of tools and models, things will be much easier for you to do the content of the online course. Besides, you also can determine who to access and on what  content of the course.   

      where can we use C/LMS?

      The education nowadays are moving forward towards the excellence and success. The students are more advance in using the technology tools and internet facilities. Hence, the C/LMS has become essential on campuses. This is because it is much easier for them to manage their education. All learners can easily access the C/LMS software as long as they have the computer and internet connection. Therefore, all people around the world can access and join C/LMS website as it is universal.

      how  to use C/LMS?

      first, sign up for an account on the website. it will always show you the steps and follow the instructions closely. then, organize the application and create a page. after that, create your own module. in order to avoid long descriptions,you can use the abbreviations. After that, create sections and categories for easier and systematic use. then, you can just displaying your contents for information sharing.

      who can use C/LMS?

      Anyone who involve in educational field can use C/LMS. AsC/LMS have become the essentials on campuses and have evolved in relating multifunctional way communication tools between faculty and students, the lecturers and the students are indirectly involved in this use of C/LMS. Besides, the instructors and the teachers are able to use C/LMS.  

      Why use C/LMS?

      As updated technology was growing like a mushroom after the rain nowadays, either do the C/LMS. They also play the same importance role for education field in learning and teaching. Since it also contain an administrative aspect that distribute directly to aspect of teaching. So,it is easier for the student to interact with the teachers directly from the online course. This software also can be followed by the student 24 hours per day.


      Advantages of using C/LMS?

      When using this device, you can save a lot of time on creating this course and the administrative system also automated. Students also can always survey and follow it anywhere and anytime they want. It also can keep student profile, which their can survey their student and helps them when needed. Also, only a few instructors needed to check the flow of this course, in order to make sure the student on the right track and correct them if they wrong.

      Course/ Learning Management System (C/LMS) is very important and essential to the teachers and students.
      In this global world, everything must be updated and the one who can not follow the flow will be like jack in a box. The C/LMS contain an administrative aspect that distribute directly to aspect of teaching. So, student can interact with the teachers directly from the online course and can be followed 24 hours per day to get the information given by the instructors. The teachers also can monitor the students and helps them on the spot. That way we need to improvise more this online course in our education system.

      Second Week Class: Original and licensing software

      Assalamualaikum and have a good day guys!
      apparently not everybody have a good day right?huhuhu..having a short semester was really challenging and it demands us an 'all out' boast energy.. 


      well, for the second week class, we have been told to work in pair and i with my partner, norsyuhada che muda, done the topic of original and licensing software..

      truly speaking, i really 'blind' with this IT things..well, does not mean if you sitting in front of your beloved laptop or computer all day long, you will be expert in this IT things..haha



      at first, i'm  kind of mixed up the original software with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), after got a clearer view about this topic then i get the real meaning of it.
      original software of software means  "Organized information in the form of operating systems, utilities, programs, and applications that enable computers to work." (credit to  http://www.businessdictionary​.com/definition/software.html) . it is functioning like a hardware in your computers, without it your computer would not functioning. it is also consist of system software ( consists of operating systems; devise drivers, servers, windowing systems and utilities) and application software (malware, adware and spyware, also greyware)

      for licensing software, it means a contract  of agreement between the software publisher and the end user. or also called EULA ( End User License Agreement) from my understanding, the agreement is only from the software publisher and the user, meaning the user get the license to use the software, not owning it. usually when users installed this software, they will ask if the users agree with the license or not. but most of us, just agreed with it without read the contract..with this the hidden malicious like spyware can step in the software. so to avoid any disruption in the system, read the license before agreed to the term given. i guess that's all from me for the second week of class. sorry for the late update..

      First Week Class

      Hello! this is the first week of study for us after the mid-term break. As being told by our Computer of Education lecturer's, Mr. Tg Norazlan b. Tg Sulaiman, to do some homework. We have to create:
      • Google account
      • Yahoo account
      • Yahoo group
      • Facebook (using google/yahoo account)
      • Facebook's Group
      • and this lovely official blog..
      for those account, we have to put signature and invite our classmates, lecturer of the subject and the coordinator. It is a good things to learn to put the signature since i never even care about it before.huhu..for those who having any difficulties finding the signature< like me>, i will let you know:

      1. for yahoo.mail, you have to click at 'option's at your upper left side of your personal email. next, click at 'mail option'. then, you just need to click the signature tab.
      2. for g mail. you need to click at 'setting',under 'general' tab, you will find the 'signature'
      p/s~ since it official account, we need to put our name, course, institution and the links to those account. easy right? just one click is needed to do it!


      It is pretty easy to do this blog since it have the 'Getting Started'..so guys! you just obediently follow the instruction..then, tadaaa!!!you have create a blog!

      this task have give us a lot of benefit and i'm really grateful to be able to do it.
